March 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 | with Kelsang Uma

In this busy, uncertain and rapidly changing world it is easy to feel unsure about our meaning and purpose. We sometimes feel like a balloon blown here and there by the wind, unable to control the direction our life is taking ~ but it does not have to be like this. By developing practical meditation techniques, ideally suited to our modern world, we can regain our inner balance and discover how to stay happy and confident whatever is happening around us. In his way, we can all learn to protect our own mind, find inner peace and develop a stronger sense of purpose.

On this four-week introductory course, Buddhist monk Kelsang Uma will explain the fundamentals of meditation and how we can use these tried and tested methods to increase our well-being and inner calm. Eventually we will be able to maintain a peaceful and relaxed mind, regardless of our external situation.

Everyone is welcome, no previous experience is necessary.

19 & 26 April | 7pm-8.15pm | with Kelsang Uma

Do you ever have those days where it seems everybody else has got out of bed with the sole purpose of annoying you? Or where particular people seem intent on pushing your buttons? We all have those days and we all have those people: some who are deliberately hurtful or obstructive, others who just seem blind to our feelings. We may be very fortunate in our relationships or know how to navigate our way with a skilful mind. Maybe not. But don’t despair. Meditation gives us that skilful mind. Meditation makes us fortunate.

On this two-week course, Kelsang Uma will help us to identify and develop special attitudes and mental skills which protect us from being upset, irritated or hurt by other people. And, as there is no way we can avoid people, these are skills we definitely need. Otherwise, we can only resort to anger, retaliation, withdrawal or hardening our heart.

So, let’s learn how to improve all our relationships, to withstand the pressure and become a happy and skilful “people person”. Let’s learn how to make others feel better for having met us.
