This retreat provides a special opportunity to explore and deepen our mind of refuge, which is our actual protection from pain and problems.
Our actual refuge is the medicine of Buddha’s teachings, which prevents the sufferings of our body and mind. Buddha is the doctor who provides us with this medicine and encourages us to take it, and the Sangha are our pure spiritual friends who assist us in our practice. These are the three jewels of refuge, to which we turn for both temporary and ultimate protection.
Through practicing refuge, we gain confidence and strength to make authentic spiritual progress. Through this we build stable peace, joy and freedom within our own heart that we can then share with others.
There will be six sessions across the weekend and the practice is accomplished within the sadhana Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land.
We recommend that you prepare for this retreat by familiarising yourself beforehand with the instructions for meditating on Refuge found in Joyful Path of Good Fortune (pp.227-272), The Oral Instructions of the Mahamudra (pp.9-13 & 227-272) and Mirror of Dharma with Additions (pp. 76-78).
Each session will be guided by Gen-la Kunsang and will include a lamrim meditation as well as the meditation on Refuge
This is an in-depth retreat, but everyone is welcome to attend any of the sessions.Â
